There is nothing, yet so much to see
Pieter Jan Boterhoek is an Amsterdam-based artist, illustrator, and printmaker with roots in Zwarte Haan, Fryslân (NL). This place remains an important source of inspiration for the creative process behind his drawings, paintings, photographs, and lino-cut prints.
His work functions as a love letter to his childhood and the environment in which he grew up. It explores questions such as: “What does it mean to come home?” and “How do you come home to important parts of yourself, such as heritage and background?”
